Llanberis, a quaint village surrounded by the serene Llyn Padarn, serves as the gateway to this remarkable hike. The path begins at the far end of Victoria Terrace, which leads down from the mini roundabout opposite The Royal Victoria Hotel.
Go through a wooden gate, next to the cattle grid and follow the steep road.
After walking through a local farmyard, follow the obvious path on the left, signposted “Llanberis Path”.
As you ascend along the Llanberis Path, the landscape transforms from lush greenery to rugged rocky terrain. The path offers captivating views of the surrounding valleys, the shimmering waters of Llyn Peris, and the remnants of old slate quarries, showcasing the area's rich industrial history. Keep an eye out for the historic ruins of Hafod Eryri, the former summit building, adding an extra layer of intrigue to your hike.
Approximately halfway up the Llanberis Path, you'll encounter the Halfway House, a welcome resting spot offering refreshments and a chance to catch your breath. It's also an ideal place to appreciate the breathtaking vistas of Snowdonia. The Halfway House serves as a reminder of the mountain's allure, drawing adventurers from all walks of life.
After a while, you will reach Allt Moses, where the path forks. Keep to the left, following the path as it climbs up the slopes of Llechog.
You will eventually reach a standing stone, which marks the spot where the Pyg Track and Miners Track joins the Llanberis Path. Continue on to the summit.
As you approach the summit, the landscape becomes more rugged, and the air thinner. The last stretch of the Llanberis Path presents a steep ascent, rewarding hikers with a sense of accomplishment and the anticipation of reaching the pinnacle.
